Over the past decades shape optimization brought huge benefits to the design of aircraft and aerospace vehicles. Topology optimization is able to achieve better designs than shape optimization since the topology of the final and initial structures are allowed to be different. Recent studies show that significant advantages can arise from the integration of topology optimization approaches into larger multidisciplinary analysis and optimization projects. This mini symposium offers the environment to explore this integration in an aeronautics and aerospace design setting.
