MS9 - Mathematical Methods for Solving MINLP's Arising from Engineering

Organized by: Dennis Michaels, Otto-von-Guericke-University, Germany

Description:
Many typical questions in Engineering can be mathematically formulated as a mixed-integer nonlinear optimization problem (MINLP). To answer a concrete question often requires solving the underlying MINLP globally. In general, this is a very challenging task. In particular, providing a certificate for globality or for infeasibility is extremely difficult. In this mini-symposium different mathematical methods to tackle MINLP's will be introduced and their usefulness will be demonstrated by considering concrete applications in the field of engineering.
